AIDS Forms the Tally
2008
Every 13 seconds someone dies of AIDS in Africa, and every 9 seconds someone is infected. The continent has changed dramatically over the 27 years that I have created AIDS-related work-the death toll keeps rising, and within 10 years, statistics predict that the oldest people in Africa will be in their late-twenties.
AIDS Forms the Tally is a portfolio of three etchings that addresses this issue. The imagery is influenced by my original artworks titled Rising from the Sea of Blood and The Staff of Apollo. This body of work concentrates on the staggering numbers of dead and dying.
